Reporting to a Sr. fixed income Portfolio Manager this role is responsible for identifying, constructing, and managing a range of innovative Best in Class investment solutions that make a significant contribution to establishing and then sustaining CGAM as a global leader in Global Fixed Income and Absolute return investing.

How you’ll succeed

 

  • Portfolio Management: Develop and implement an innovative institutional quality global fixed income absolute return platform. Strategy to encompass allocations to, inter alia, developed market sovereign debt, investment grade, and securitized assets. Once implemented, act as lead portfolio manager with responsibility for risk management and dynamic risk capital allocation across the various investment strategies. Ensure the developed strategy is diversifying, accretive, and has the requisite performance features to drive client demand (e.g., including, but not limited to, consistently top quartile performance within a representative peer universe), efficient return on risk capital, and complementary to the firm’s existing fixed income capabilities. Design and build supporting risk management and portfolio construction infrastructure in partnership with quantitative team colleagues.

  • Strategy Innovation: Identify and collaborate with CGAM colleagues to design, launch, and manage innovative and diversifying absolute return investment strategies. These strategies may include, but are not limited to, intra-Europe spread strategies, global domestic rates , U.S agency MBS (Spec pools, CMOs, TBAs, IOs), and various non-linear interest rate strategies.

  • Business Development Activities: Provide support to the firm’s Business Development activities in the build-out of world class global fixed income and absolute return investment platforms. To include participation at conferences, webinars, podcasts, and meetings, as well as authorship of relevant white paper research notes.

  • Team Support & Collaboration: Support and mentor PMs across CGAM’s investment teams in the design of enhancements to their investment processes and risk management and portfolio construction infrastructure and procedures. Actively mentor less experienced PMs to ensure CGAM portfolio management practices are consistently Best in Class.

 

 

Who you are

  • You have an undergraduate degree (required);  A graduate degree in engineering, math, business, finance and/or economics is desired.

  • You can demonstrate experience. 15+ years of relevant experience as a senior investment professional with advanced knowledge of capital markets and rigorous portfolio and risk management expertise across a range of asset classes. Experience across the following markets; developed interest rates (both linear and non-linear), interest rate swap spreads, cross currency basis, invoice spreads, cash-futures basis, asset swaps, U.S. agency MBS (TBA, Spec Pools, CMOs, IOs), and structured interest rate strategies. Successful candidate will have experience in validating/modeling convexity/modeling convexity risks associated with U.S MBS and gamma/vega calibration associated with various interest rate options. Experience in developing Capital at risk and risk adjusted return on capital models. Successful candidate will have developed capital at risk models based on a Value-At-Risk (VAR) framework to aid in effectively allocating capital across multiple investment strategies to achieve optimal risk adjusted returns on capital. Experience in building fixed income businesses, with a focus on total return, hedge fund, and liquid alternative strategies. Proficiency in French, both written and spoken (asset).  

  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends. Strong computational, programming capabilities. Candidate able to develop modeling tools on programming platforms, preferably Matlab.
