Financial Systems Director

General Description:

We are seeking a Financial Systems Director to join our team. The Financial Systems Director is responsible for overseeing and directing the Firm's IT systems related to financial operations. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic direction, efficiency, and security of financial systems while ensuring alignment with Firm financial and security objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide vision and leadership for the Financial Systems department.
  • Apply creative and innovative approaches to troubleshooting and resolving complex financial system challenges, encouraging out-of-the-box thinking within the team.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of professionals responsible for maintaining and supporting financial business systems.
  • Foster a culture of creative problem-solving, empowering the team to develop and implement innovative solutions to technical and operational challenges.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and user satisfaction.
  • Partner with IT and other departments to meet business requirements.
  • Develop and implement risk management and compliancy strategies.
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal stakeholders, and external partners to deliver solutions that meet the Firm’s financial goals and objectives.
  • Direct the team in the operation, maintenance, and procedures of the Firm’s financial systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of financial data.
  • Ensure financial systems are secure, comply with industry regulations, and safeguard sensitive financial information.
  • Select, implement, and integrate financial software systems, including accounting, budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting systems. Ensure seamless integration of financial systems with other IT infrastructure.
  • Manage the budget for financial systems, including cost control and resource allocation to optimize financial efficiency.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and evaluate vendor service levels.
  • Oversee data management, data analytics, and reporting to support financial decision-making and analysis.
  • Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the Firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law. 
  • Special projects and duties as assigned. 
     

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions in high-pressure or ambiguous situations.
  • Outstanding problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify and resolve complex financial system issues.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute strategies aligned with the Firm’s financial objectives.
  • Strong technical skills encompassing financial software and systems, database management, cybersecurity, and project management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial concepts, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft 365.
     

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, finance, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in financial system roles, with a deep understanding of financial operations and systems. Law firm experience a plus.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
