About the team: 
Careem’s Finance team plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decisions and financial discipline across all business verticals. We partner closely with teams across the organization to guide strategy, allocate resources efficiently, and drive sustainable growth.

About the role:

Careem is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working with data, supporting financial reporting, and contributing to process improvements in a fast-paced, tech-driven organization.

What you’ll do
  • Handle day-to-day accounting activities and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in line with internal policies.
  • Prepare and support the review of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize SQL, Power BI, and automation tools to support reporting, data analysis, and dashboard preparation.
  • Assist in process improvement and automation initiatives within the Finance function.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Provide analytical support and insights to senior team members to aid decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Professional qualification: CA / ACCA (In Progress) or Bachelor’s in Finance .
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS; exposure to US GAAP is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and automation tools; familiarity with AI applications in finance is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to clearly explain financial data.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and manage multiple priorities.
