Job Summary

The role supports the bank’s financial planning, forecasting, and performance management by delivering robust and realistic projections, executing key planning cycles, producing high‑quality management reports and dashboards, analysing variances, trends and key business drivers, and providing senior management with timely financial insights to support informed decision‑making and the achievement of strategic and operational targets.

Job Description

  • The role is responsible for supporting the bank’s financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes by ensuring that all projections are robust, realistic, and aligned to expected financial outcomes.
  • The role analyses variances, trends, and key business drivers to inform decision‑making and ensure operational and strategic targets are met.
  • In addition, the role provides senior management with financial insights, deep‑dive analysis, and ad‑hoc support for strategic initiatives and business performance improvement.
  • Assist with financial planning and forecasting processes across the bank, incorporating a periodic review into each process and ensuring that they reflect changes in expected financial performance - (provide a review and challenge to all new projects, ensuring business plans are robust and realistic).
  • Produce monthly management reports and performance dashboards
  • Oversee Funds Transfer Pricing process and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Provide accurately segmented information on income, costs, and balance sheet to satisfy internal and external functional needs.
  • Analyse variances, trends, and key business drivers, ensure cost are managed to acceptable levels
  • Ensure that all the bank’s operational and strategic targets are addressed through the planning & forecast cycles.
  • Assist senior staff, with providing ad hoc analysis to support business needs and deep dive analysis to interpret financials and provide direction for the business to drive performance
  • Provide finance input & guidance into Business & Operational projects
  • Assist senior management with financial insights for strategic initiatives
  • Adhere to Absa’s policies and procedures applicable to own role, demonstrating sound judgment and responsible risk management.
  • Report all risk events / incidents / issues using the defined process for your business area and help to understand why these happened and how to prevent them in future.
  •  Proactively look for ways to improve the control environment by considering what could go wrong in the processes you operate and how errors could be prevented.

Education

Bachelor's Degree: Accounting (Required)
