Role & Responsibilities:
Position Definition (Key Purpose of the Position) :
The Finance Controller, China is accountable for end-to-end controllership, financial governance, and internal control effectiveness for China entities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong balance sheet discipline, and full compliance with corporate policies, SOX, and statutory requirements, while closely partnering with Shared Services Centers (SSC) and regional finance teams.
Key Result Areas:
Controllership & Financial Governance:
Own the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements for China entities.
Ensure compliance with PRC GAAP, US GAAP/IFRS, and corporate accounting policies.
Act as the key controllership contact for regional and global finance teams.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls
Period-End Close, Accounting Operation & Reporting:
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Coordinate with Shared Service Center for daily accounting operation
Ensure timely submission of financial reporting packages to regional/global finance.
Lead balance sheet reviews, flux analysis, and issue resolution.
Statutory, Tax & Audit Management:
Ensure compliance with local statutory accounting and regulatory requirements.
Lead and coordinate statutory and group audits and liaise with external auditors.
Partner with Tax and external advisors to support filings and compliance.
Monitor changes in financial and tax regulations and implement necessary updates
Team Leadership, Capability Building & Process Improvement:
Lead and develop the controllership team with a strong control mindset.
Set clear expectations on accountability, quality, and compliance.
Coach team members on technical accounting, controls, and corporate standards.
Streamline financial processes for efficiency.
Business Partnering/Stakeholder Support & Others:
Act as the controllership partner to brand teams to ensure financial discipline, transparency and compliance
Provide finance guidance to brand stakeholders on financial implications of business activities
Support ad-hoc finance and controllership initiatives as assigned by regional or global finance leadership.
Participate in finance transformation, system enhancement, or process standardization projects when required.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall finance and controllership objectives.

Functional Competencies –

Expertise in US GAAP / IFRS and PRC GAAP
In‑depth understanding of China statutory, tax and regulatory requirements
Hands‑on experience in monthly close and reporting
Proficiency in SAP / Oracle / major ERP systems
Extensive experience with external audit (Big 4 preferred)
Solid SOX 404 / internal control design and remediation experience
Advanced Excel and financial data analysis skills
Experience
Minimum Relevant Experience: 10+ years in accounting/finance
Minimum Supervisory Experience: 5+ years in a leadership role
Nature of Work: Big 4 experience is preferred/Retail experience is preferred
Academic Qualifications
Minimum Degree Held: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Certifications Required : CPA preferred.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken).
