Windsor Full time

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your role:

Net Zero exists to increase and accelerate the impact of Centrica Home in the UK’s energy transition. This area covers Low Carbon Homes (heat pumps, solar, insulation), Home Energy Management, Demand Side Response and Hydrogen, all critical growth areas for Centrica in the coming years. With our scale, heritage and customer reach, Centrica is uniquely positioned to lead the decarbonisation of UK homes.

This 9month secondment/FTC will lead and manage the Financial Control team for Net Zero (2 direct reports plus 1 graduate), overseeing a broad range of financial activities including month‑end reporting, financial control, balance sheet ownership, statutory reporting, audit management and continuous process improvement.

It’s an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong people leadership experience and a passion for driving high‑quality financial control in a fast‑growing, evolving part of the business.

This is a hybrid role with Windsor as your main office location. On average, you’d be in the office circa twice per month.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the Business and Group.

  • Develop a deep understanding of business activities to ensure accurate accounting, robust controls and effective processes.

  • Support transformation initiatives by designing and delivering improvements to reporting methodologies, enabling better insight into performance.

  • Own the monthend close process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and review of journals and results, and reporting to the Director of Financial Control – Retail Services.

  • Drive high standards of financial accounting, reporting and controls in line with legislation and Groupwide requirements.

  • Ensure balance sheet integrity through rigorous review, reconciliation and signoff.

  • Oversee statutory reporting and manage relationships with external auditors.

  • Optimise systems usage and continually enhance processes to improve efficiency and control.

  • Lead, coach and develop a highperforming Financial Control team, both onshore and offshore.

Here's what we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an ambitious individual with the drive and systems awareness to understand, challenge and improve processes and controls in a growing and relatively immature area of the business. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified accountant status with proven team management experience.

  • Strong ability to work with and enhance processes using spreadsheets, Power Apps or other analytical tools.

  • Experience with financial accounting and reporting systems such as SAP, MS Dynamics or similar.

  • A processfocused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and the ability to deliver change across multiple stakeholders.

  • A proactive, selfstarting approach with the confidence to identify and resolve issues independently.

  • A collaborative style and willingness to work closely with others when needed.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, remaining calm under pressure and able to prioritise multiple deliverables with strong selfmanagement.

  • The ability to communicate complex topics clearly and simply.

  • A desire to work across finance and operational teams to further develop and strengthen monthend and control processes.
