Accounting Manager is responsible for design, oversight, and execution of the company’s accounting policies. The Accounting Manager ensures that the Company’s financial statements are an accurate representation of the company’s financial position and results of operations are free of material misstatements and are prepared in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Standards (where applicable).
Areas of Expertise & Special Skills:
- External Reporting/Auditing – Experience with a US Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) audit for $500M+ companies (similar to that of someone with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) experience).
- IT – Understanding of how end to end processes work with within Oracle (or similar ERP system) requiring not just accounting/finance knowledge but also exposure to other business processes. Position requires experience extracting and analyzing “big data” to perform forensic accounting and external reporting responsibilities.
- Experience with ASC 606 revenue accounting and have experience preparing / reviewing corporate tax provisions ASC 740.
- Forensic Accounting – Ability to analyze and research transactions and activity going back several years (in some cases). Ability to re-create and re-state financial statements as well as creative/outside of the box problem solving skills.
- Valuations Experience – Experience preparing complex financial models to value revenue transactions as well as investments (both what is on our balance sheet as well as potential acquisitions).
- CPA with an active license (is preferred) with a strong working knowledge of US GAAP; able to work cross functionally to understand contracts, make technical accounting interpretations and ensure correct accounting on a US GAAP basis.
- Experience working in a multi-entity (country), multi-currency international environment.
- Functional leadership experience – able to engage team members, explain technical accounting positions and ensure necessary adjustments are reflected in the ledger.
Responsabilities
- Global finance point for technical accounting and research. Owns complex transaction assessments, updates to assigned accounting policies and periodic fluctuation analysis. Collaborates with external auditors on complex transactions to reach consensus, while ensuring transparency, partnership and all open items are resolved quarterly and at fiscal year-end.
- Responsible for overall review of revenue transactions and the establishment of policies and procedures. Assists with revenue accounting judgements and ensures compliance with ASC 606. Overall owner of revenue re-allocation models and pricing study (Standalone Sales Price (SSP) analysis) for purposes of determining the timing of revenue recognition. Works directly with the business to provide preliminary guidance on the P&L impact of contracts, business decisions and deal structures.
- Owner of Singapore branch of the Netherlands financial statement compliance. Owns creation of annual financial statements, scheduling of work with external statutory auditors in the US, Singapore and the Netherlands, working through accounting accuracy issues, transfer price adjustments and ensuring auditor concerns and questions are addressed while also achieving progress in the compliance cycle with auditor sign-off achieved.
- Oracle Business Process Owner/Approver for Finance. Responsible for liaising with Business Intelligence team and working with stakeholders to gather requirements for system improvements as well as analyzing business processes and recommending improvements. Work to prioritize IT projects to improve financial reporting processes and oversee key projects from inception to completion.
- Partner with other areas in Finance and the business to establish processes to operationalize and develop accounting/reporting procedures related to new busines ventures and offerings. This may include both technical accounting research to document policies and procedures as well as the valuation of assets and potential acquisitions, or impairment analysis of the same.
- Works as a functional leader across various finance and accounting teams to ensure compliance with US GAAP. Work with a dotted line from revenue, cost, lease and consolidation accounting teams to ensure compliance with US GAAP while staying abreast of latest technical accounting bulletins.
- Technical Accounting – Ability to analyze complex transactions in a rapidly changing environment as well as the ability to research and document the company’s position on significant and complex accounting matters.
