We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial specialist to join the Corporate Actuarial  and Capital Management Team. This role is ideal for someone who excels at financial analysis and attention to financial detail, and can identify and execute on improvements in a financial process.
 

Position Summary

As a Financial Analysis Advisor within Cigna's Corporate Actuarial team, you will serve as a strategic partner in driving capital efficiency across the enterprise. This role is ideal for a seasoned financial professional, who is analytical, works well in a matrix environment, and is committed to enhancing current processes and analytics. 

You will be responsible for analyzing financial data, maintaining models, and forecasting capital and dividend capacity to support enterprise planning and regulatory compliance, with the goal of balancing capital levels to satisfy various stakeholders. As a dividend and capital subject matter expert, you will collaborate cross-functionally with teams including FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Cigna Investment Management, Treasury, Compliance and Government Affairs.

You will also be responsible for completing a full review of existing capital management processes and deliverables,  and recommending and executing on changes that will increase efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
 

Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Model and project capital levels, required capital (including regulatory Risk Based Capital (RBC) and internal benchmark targets), and dividend capacity for Cigna’s primary regulated entities. Understand and summarize key drivers of dividend versus projections and prior years. Monitor actual quarterly statutory capital levels versus plan and assess risks and opportunities to the dividend projection.
  • Develop reporting and modeling process improvements to increase efficiency, maintain accuracy, and promote insightful analysis.
  • Calculate Return on Equity (ROE) by segment and line of business to evaluate performance against the enterprise target.
  • Prepare quarterly dividend memos and dividend workpapers to support dividend requests to the Department of Insurance. Act as subject matter expert to support capital and dividend-related issues.
  • Coordinate annual rating agency surveys, manage Wdesk templates, support capital/dividend exhibits requested by the rating agencies. Administer AM Best portal access and troubleshooting.
  • Review annual Risk Based Capital (RBC) statutory filings and work with team actuary to update benchmark surplus model as needed.
  • Contribute to M&A capital analytics, quarterly CFO notes, and CT Insurance Department projections. Provide ad hoc support for emerging capital issues and enterprise initiatives.
  • Periodically update asset and surplus projections for Cigna Investment Management.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 11-13 years of experience in financial planning, modeling, and analysis
  • Experience with U.S. Statutory accounting is referred, but not required.
  • Experience with financial modeling
  • Prior experience of delivering process improvements.
  • Working with tight deadlines
