We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

About the opportunity
Reporting to the Group Reporting & Treasury Manager, the Financial Accountant provides key financial and management accounting support across the finance function. The role sits within a supportive, close‑knit and collaborative team and offers a hybrid working model, with three days in the office and flexibility to support work‑life balance. This position is ideal for someone comfortable with statutory and compliance reporting, finance systems and processes, and month-end close responsibilities who is eager to continually learn and develop as a finance professional.
You will support statutory (annual), quarterly and compliance reporting, treasury activities, work with external auditors, and be encouraged to develop subject matter expertise in VicRoads systems while providing cross‑functional support in a great, inclusive culture. The role is pivotal to the monthly financial close, ensuring the generation of accurate and timely information, Workday processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
About you
You are a qualified finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, close‑knit team while confidently managing your own responsibilities. You bring strong technical accounting knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a genuine willingness to learn and develop. Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, you value accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
You communicate clearly with stakeholders, adapt easily to new systems, and take pride in delivering high‑quality outcomes that support sound financial, compliance and reporting decisions across the business.
CPA or CA qualified with a relevant tertiary degree
Minimum 4 years’ experience in financial or management accounting
Strong understanding of statutory and compliance reporting
Confident working autonomously with strong attention to detail
Willingness to learn systems and broaden technical expertise
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Continuous improvement mindset and collaborative approach
