The Department 

This is a permanent, full-time role within a newly formed India-based extension of the UK Finance team, supporting the UK Pathways business and wider global finance function. 

As part of this growing team, you will play a key role in establishing robust financial accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and delivering a high-quality month-end close and reporting cycle. The team works closely with UK and International colleagues within a global finance framework. 

You will collaborate with the Senior Financial Accountant, Finance Manager – International, as well as Accounts Assistants and report to the Head of Financial Accounting. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new expansion in Bengaluru with the scope to influence processes, embed best practices, and support future scalability. 

The Role 

We are seeking a qualified accountant (CA / ICWA / CPA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting expertise and experience in financial reporting and month-end close processes.

The role will play a key part in the monthly close cycle, ensuring books are closed in accordance with agreed timetables and that balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time. 

In addition to core financial accounting responsibilities, this position will take ownership of specific technical and transformation areas, including leading UK GAAP lease accounting changes and supporting the setup of accounting processes within the upcoming change of the finance ledger. 

As part of an American-owned organisation, you will also gain exposure to US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, operating within a strong internal control environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ownership and accountability for the maintenance of Fixed Asset and Intangible Asset Registers, and work in progress registers 

  • Preparation and review of key monthly balance sheet reconciliations 

  • Accounting for capital work-in-progress (CIP) in collaboration with IT and operational stakeholders to ensure appropriate accounting 

  • Assisting with the completion of various month-end accounting journals, reporting and reconciliations 

  • Supporting the timely and accurate completion of the overall month-end close process 

  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements 

  • Joint ownership with the other seniors in the team to prepare the trial balances, statutory audit support schedules, and consolidation reporting packs for UK statutory accounts 

  • Supporting internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to queries 

  • Continuous review and enhancement of accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy 

This element of the role will suit someone comfortable taking ownership of technical accounting areas and enhancing existing processes as the business grows and evolves. 

About You - The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA/ICWA, CPA or equivalent

  • Have 2+ years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting or reporting 

  • Have strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102); IFRS and/or US GAAP experience advantageous 

  • Have experience working within structured month-end close timetables

  • Be comfortable working to deadlines within a controlled reporting environment

  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • To have ownership of your core areas but also supporting the team to achieve the overall month end delivery 

  • Show a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement and automation

  • Possess strong Excel skills (including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP) 

  • Ideally have exposure to multinational environments or shared location structures 

  • Be a confident communicator, able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across geographies Desirable 

  • Have experience with the new ERP system Business Central or our existing system Great Plains 

  • Experience using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, workflow automation tools to improve reporting and close efficiency would be advantageous.
