About the role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant to join the Financial Times finance team. This role plays a key part in supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across the FT Group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for fixed asset accounting, intercompany transactions, month-end close activities, and supporting statutory and group reporting. Working closely with colleagues across global finance teams, this role will also contribute to audit processes, compliance reporting, and continuous improvements in financial controls and reporting processes.

This position is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a collaborative, multinational environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality financial information that supports informed business decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the fixed assets accounting process, including asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, impairments, and related reconciliations.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate global fixed asset reports to support financial reporting and business analysis.
  • Process intercompany settlements and manage regional intercompany confirmations across all regions.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and revaluation spot checks.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors, coordinating with FT finance teams to ensure timely and accurate responses to audit requests while monitoring and tracking audit deliverables.
  • Maintain and submit Office for National Statistics (ONS) surveys in line with regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Prepare schedules required for FT Group reporting to parent company Nikkei.
  • Contribute to the preparation of statutory financial statements for FT Group entities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the UK finance team with ad hoc financial and reporting tasks as needed.
  • Perform internal journal control testing to support the integrity of financial processes and internal controls.

Required skills and experience:

  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting and/or management accounting, ideally within a multinational or complex business environment.

  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, Essbase, or similar financial platforms.

  • Experience within publishing, advertising, media, or a similar industry is advantageous.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is preferred.
