Finance, Senior Assistant Manager

The Singapore Indoor Farming Systems (SingFarm) is a new CREATE programme led by NTU Singapore and Wageningen University and Research (WUR), to use a systems approach to develop an efficient indoor farming system. SingFarm hosted at CCEB-NTU will embark on R&D activities (encompassing plant science, energy water and zero waste farming) to help enhance Singapore’s urban food production capabilities. SingFarm is part of the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme (SFS), with participation of local institutions (National University of Singapore, Temasek Life Science Laboratory and Republic Polytechnic) and supported by National Research Foundation (NRF) and Singapore Food Agency (SFA). 

As a key member of the SingFarm core team, the Finance, Senior Assistant Manager will work with the SingFarm Directors to manage the comprehensive financial administration of the SingFarm initiative and associated projects, ensuring effective budget control, financial reporting, audit compliance, and stakeholder coordination to support the organization's strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • As a key member of the SingFarm core team, the Finance, Senior Assistant Manager (SingFarm) will be responsible for the following:

    • Oversee financial management of the S$25M SingFarmS initiative, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and audit compliance.

    • Coordinate financial operations with multiple project PIs, partner institutions, and funding agencies.

    • Manage procurement processes, travel budgets, and conference/event financing.

    • Monitor budget utilization and industry contributions, ensuring alignment with external grantor requirements.

    • Maintain effective communication and financial coordination with industry partners and external funding bodies.

    • Manage all pre- and post-grant award processes such as account creation, sub-award letters, and budget variations.

    • Support Directors and PIs in financial reporting and progress reviews.

    • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with grant terms and university policies.

Requirements:

  • Finance, Senior Assistant Manager (SingFarm) should have the following qualifications:

    • Degree in Business and experience in grant management would be an advantage.

    • Good business acumen, resourceful and is a team player.

    • Strong network and working knowledge of the Singapore research, and food industry environment.

    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
