JOB OVERVIEW
OFG’s US Banking Commercial Loan Program is currently recruiting an Analyst to join their team in the San Juan, PR and Charlotte, NC offices. As a member of the team, the Analyst will play a critical role in growing the US business by assisting in the underwriting of new commercial loan originations across various industries and portfolio management efforts of existing credit relationships.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide analytical support in the preparation of new credit underwritings, loan modifications, and periodic credit reviews. This includes core functions such as:
Performing all required financial spreads.
Building financial models used for valuation and forecast.
Assessing and evaluating the credit risk of a prospective or existing borrower flagging early warning signals.
Uploading all necessary documentation for credit underwriting and approval.
Work alongside the Portfolio Leads and Portfolio Manager in the preparation of regular portfolio reports, industry research, and other strategic initiatives.
Stay abreast of news and events that affect the different industries/sectors covered within the US Loans portfolio.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners, internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with the USLP Management Team including its Credit Risk Unit to manage optimal workflow, assist in identifying process breakdowns, and develop internal enhancements.
Be responsible for completing annual training programs.
Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics, or business related degree required. MBA preferred.
One (1)+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis/portfolio management required.
Minimum experience requirement can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of capital markets and commercial/corporate product offerings, including syndicated/leveraged lending desired
Strong skills in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and credit analysis required.
Excellent oral & written communication skills in English, being able to communicate at all organizational levels. Proficiency in Spanish would be a plus
Ability to work on demanding tasks independently, effectively manage deadlines, and have excellent prioritizing skills.
Expertise in computer skills, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite required. Moody’s Credit Lens, and other financial software tools such as Pitchbook and S&P Capital IQ strongly preferred.
