Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands Full Time

We’re on a mission to become the go-to destination for students across Europe to find a trusted home away from home. We make every step of the rental journey simple and seamless, so students can focus on what really matters: studying, exploring, and growing.

With HousingAnywhere, Kamernet, and Studapart under our roof, we’re Europe’s largest student rental platform.

You’ll find us in Rotterdam, Paris, and Cergy, always guided by our four core values: Ownership, We are enablers, We are changemakers, and We are connectors.

Join us in empowering students to unlock their potential through a safe, online, rental experience.

To support this mission, we are looking for a new Finance Manager!

The team
You will join the Finance & Legal department, which consists of four core areas: Accounting, FP&A, Finance Operations and Legal. You will lead the Accounting team and work closely with the Director of Finance, playing a crucial role across our three brands (HousingAnywhere, Studapart, and Kamernet).

Your role

As our new Finance Manager, one of your core goals will be to strengthen our financial foundations as we scale quickly. You will have an impactful position that will require resilience, openness to change and several responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Accounting team, currently composed of a Senior and a Junior Accountant, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional rigour.
  • Direct and oversee the full group closing cycle, ensuring that the Accountant’s month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes are smooth, accurate, and completed on time.
  • Review and validate complex group consolidations, including the integration of the French subsidiary’s data, while managing relationships with external providers to ensure seamless financial reporting.
  • Supervise and sign off on all Balance Sheet (BS) reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and all intercompany accounts.
  • Guarantee full compliance with Dutch/French GAAP and company policies, acting as the final technical authority on accounting issues and internal control systems.
  • Orchestrate the preparation of internal and external financial statements, ensuring all statutory reporting is accurate, complete, and submitted according to regulatory deadlines.
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating all activities to ensure efficient audits and proactive tax planning/compliance.
  • Optimize Cash Flow, Tax, and Treasury functions, providing strategic oversight of the group’s liquidity and fiscal obligations.
  • Drive process innovation by assessing current accounting operations, evaluating software effectiveness, and implementing new systems to enhance reporting speed and accuracy.
  • Ensure the robust performance of internal controls, identifying risks and offering high-level recommendations for departmental improvement.

What does success look like?

  • You build strong, constructive relationships across Finance and the wider organization, and engage openly on critical topics to drive alignment and improvement.
  • You communicate proactively and transparently, helping the business “get things right” and avoid surprises through strong planning and follow-up.
  • You take a hands-on, ownership-driven approach, comfortably balancing preparation and review work while continuously improving processes and ways of working.

Your profile

  • 5-7 years of working experience as a senior/lead accountant or a comparable position.
  • Fluent in English. French is a very big plus.
  • Experience in consolidating financial figures and management reporting.
  • Experience in Dutch or French GAAP.
  • Deep understanding of cash flows, accounting and fiscal implications.
  • Proven ability to optimise and improve finance processes.
  • Hands-on, structured problem-solver able to identify issues, apply solutions, and assess impact.
  • Being a Certified or Chartered Accountant and/or Controller is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in an auditing firm (Big 4 or Small 5) is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP implementations and payment service providers is a plus.

What’s in it for you
