JOB PURPOSE:

The Finance Coordinator provides administrative and financial operations support for the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) department and serves as a critical liaison with procurement and accounts payable to ensure that financial activities associated with financial operations, philanthropic gifts, and grants are efficiently managed, maintained, and compliant with all applicable university policies, laws, and regulations. Additional responsibilities include managing procurement, accounts payable, and financial operations efficiently.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Finance Coordinator assists with the development, management, and monitoring of the department's budget and financial operations. The role requires an experienced administrator with a strong background in bookkeeping, able to ensure the department's fiscal integrity and efficiency, and compliance with university policies. This position works collaboratively across DAR and extensively with colleagues in key financial offices, including the University Budget Office, Procurement and Contracting, and Accounts Payable. Will work with other campus partners as needed. Teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication both across the University and with other development staff, are essential.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Working closely with the Director of Administration, the Finance Coordinator primarily provides financial administrative support, including bookkeeping, entering requisitions, account reconciliation across the entire department. The role assists with managing and monitoring staff expenses to ensure the timely completion of expense reports. It supports the procurement process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and purchase order management, ensuring that all expenditures align with approved budget guidelines and university financial policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of financial reports and summaries for review by the Director of Administration and senior leadership, as well as assisting with the development of DAR’s annual budget and audits. The Finance Coordinator may also help to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies within the department’s financial operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite, excel and budgeting software, familiarity with Workday preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000
