Field Services SME(Subject Matter Expert)

What success looks like in this role:

This role will serve as a Subject matter expert, leading the delivery of high-quality technical support and services to our clients within the Australian Government. In this advanced capacity, you will not only troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, perform system installations and maintenance, and provide on-site support to ensure the seamless operation of client IT infrastructure, but also drive continuous improvement and innovation across field services practices.

A core responsibility of this role is to champion problem management—identifying recurring issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions that enhance service reliability and efficiency. You will lead initiatives to innovate technical processes, introduce best practices, and foster a culture of ongoing improvement within the team.

As a recognized SME, you will provide expert guidance to both clients and internal teams, ensuring that evolving needs are met with the highest standards of professionalism and technical excellence. You will mentor and develop junior engineers, instilling a mindset of innovation and continuous learning, and ensuring the team consistently delivers exceptional customer care.

This role requires a mandatory NV2 AGSVA security clearance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a Deskside support environment performing fault investigation, triaging, and resolution.

  • Experience with desktop support, server support, hardware, network and software installation and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with supporting a corporate Windows environment

  • Experience with supporting physical and virtual environments (Desktop and Servers)

  • Operating system support (Windows 10 & 7, Linux, and other operating systems)

  • Office 365, Outlook, exchange, and other critical business application support Standalone Support

  • Printing (installation, deployment, configuration, disposals)

  • Complex Software installation and troubleshooting

  • Network (triaging, fault diagnostic, root cause analysis)

  • Software and Hardware diagnostic skills and building/upgrading PC's.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • NV1 Security Clearance must have for this role.

  • Driver's License required.

  • Motivated and enthusiastic.

  • Experience in both independent and collaborative environments is essential. A relevant degree in IT or a related field, along with industry certifications, will be highly regarded.
