Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0734000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8852-10, you will supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priority based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Perform the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. Implement regulatory safety requirements and ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implement corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), the only area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. Military Grades: Enlisted only - E7-E-8 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized experience for the WS-10 Level which includes, in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
