We are seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanical / Electrical Technician to join our team as a Field Service Technician in Palmerston North. Not the traditional electrician role, being field based, you will work across multiple customer sites gaining exposure to the latest technology and automation. Our ideal candidates are problem solvers with excellent fault-finding skills, creating partnerships with customers to provide solutions to their business needs.
You'll play a vital role in providing 24/7 national support, covering contract repairs, preventative maintenance, installations, and emergency breakdown services for Dematic customers.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The position will require participation in an on-call roster with working hours covering:
Monday to Friday day shift with overtime opportunities
On-Call Roster: every 3 weeks attracting an On-Call Allowance
Field based role: with fully maintained company vehicle, tools, laptop, mobile and uniform
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Electrical or Mechanical Trade Qualification
Mechanical maintenance experience is highly regarded
General PLC experience in Siemens S7 and SCADA preferred but not mandatory, training will be provided
Experience within automation environments (conveyors) and material handling equipment (advantageous)
Experience in pneumatic systems
Troubleshooting and problem solving mechanical/electrical faults on high tech automated material handling equipment and Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV)
First respondent to breakdown notifications when on call
Ability to work in isolation, make decisions and be results driven
Great team player and able to work collaboratively
Strong understanding of OHS requirements and application of safe work practices
Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills
The ability to develop and maintain effective on-going relationships with key customers
New Zealand Work Rights: PR or Citizenship
