The Binding Site part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. seeks a Field Service Engineer for North Italy to provide top-notch service and support for our products. This position is outstanding, enabling you to boost patient outcomes in multiple myeloma through your technical expertise and dedication providing specialized service and support on the installation, integration, servicing, repair, planned maintenance and troubleshooting leveraging product knowledge and technical competency
A day in the life:
- Be part of a dynamic and skilled team that enables our customers to successfully complete their important clinical work on the Binding Site part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, products portfolio.
- The Filed Service Engineer will ensure successful installation, system integration, validation, scheduled maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of the systems and associated software.
- The role also involves provision of timely technical support to customers and colleagues including remote access support and cross-functional technical investigation work - efficiently diagnosing faults and restoring full system functionality.
- As an expert in their field, the Filed Service Engineer must be confident in participating in technical discussions on the product – both hardware and software.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) visits within the timeframes required.
- Complete service reports in Service CRM and ensure they are completed both fully and accurately.
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts, ensuring parts are used appropriately and support with spare part stock checks and reconciliation.
- Update instruments placed at customer laboratories with software and data management upgrades as required.
- Provide feedback to global product teams on instrument reliability and quality.
- Provide training courses of installation and maintenance to end-user
- Make preliminary visits to laboratories to agree on positioning of the instrumentation, checking correct installation site and the need for any hydraulic/electric/logistic work.
- Support for interfacing LIS with the main company management tools
- Support and sponsor our middleware product, drawing on your in-depth knowledge of networking and client/server dynamics
Keys to Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a scientific or engineering field (e.g., clinical/research laboratories, electronics, biotechnology, medical devices).
- Proven IT skills for laboratory middleware management.
- Strong technical competence and problem-solving abilities
- Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English and Italian – both written and verbal.
- Availability to travel at short notice and occasionally work weekends/unsociable hours (75 – 85% of working on field).
- Full driving license.
