Position Summary

The Field CISO serves as a primary, public-facing security executive for F5. This highly visible role is responsible for engaging with senior-level audiences globally, including customer executives, boards of directors, regulators, and Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs). The Field CISO will drive F5’s reputation as a global leader in security and risk management by delivering compelling thought leadership, providing expert analysis at industry events, and leading strategic customer and partner interactions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary, trusted advisor and public face for F5 to senior security audiences, including Board-level executives, regulators, ISACs, and key customers.
  • Lead customer executive sponsorships and high-level strategic interactions within F5's Customer Engagement Centers (CECs).
  • Develop and deliver authoritative thought leadership and in-depth analysis for global audiences at industry conferences, panels, and executive events.
  • Enhance and promote F5's global position as a premier security and risk thought leader.
  • Lead and participate in high-stakes strategic security engagements, including customer post-breach discussions, wargames, and executive tabletop exercises.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with key industry partners to further F5's security mission.
  • Provide senior leadership and critical input on security messaging, field sales training, and strategic event selection to drive F5’s image as a security leader across multiple industries worldwide.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive, proven experience (15+ years) in a senior cybersecurity leadership role (e.g., CISO, Field CISO, senior security strategist).
  • Deep expertise in cybersecurity strategy, risk management, incident response, and crisis communications.
  • Recognized as an industry thought leader with a strong public profile and a history of speaking at major global security conferences.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to and advising C-suite executives, Boards of Directors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, executive-level engagements such as wargames, breach simulations, and tabletop exercises.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the global threat landscape and the ability to apply it to multiple industries.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with marketing, sales, and product teams to shape strategic messaging and enablement.
  • Ability to travel globally as required.

Standard Position Terms

  • Classification: This position, as it is currently classified, is exempt from overtime pay because it performs work that is exempt from or not subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Benefits: F5 provides comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits for all its regular employees working at least 20 hours or more per week2. Employees are also eligible to participate in F5's 401(k) retirement plan and receive the Company match. F5 reserves the right to change or terminate these benefits at any time.
  • Employment at Will: Employment with F5 will be "at-will". This means employment is not for any specific period of time and can be terminated by you at any time for any reason. Likewise, F5 may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice.
  • Contingencies: This position is subject to F5's usual employment policies and is contingent on the satisfactory outcome of background and reference checks.

The annual base pay for this position is: $266,200.00 - $399,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
