Summary

We are growing and seeking a skilled, enthusiastic Field Applications Engineer to join our high-performance team. In this role, you will become a trusted technical advisor to our customers and a key support partner to our sales, marketing, and product management teams.

The successful candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in our servo drives products and integrated motion technologies, and how they are applied in

mission-critical motion control systems. You will play a pivotal role in helping customers achieve “design wins” by ensuring their end systems perform reliably and efficiently.

You’ll guide customers in understanding technical capabilities and selecting the best-fit solutions for their needs. Additionally, you will create compelling application content that enhances customer experience and drives long-term product line growth and success.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert technical support to customers, accelerating implementation and reducing time to market.
  • Collaborate with territory managers and business developers to visit key customers and provide system-level application guidance.
  • Collaborate with product managers to understand product features and offer usability improvement suggestions.
  • Conduct in-depth technical training for Novanta colleagues, distributors, partners, and customers.
  • Document customer applications in detail to validate our value proposition and refine market insights.
  • Design and develop customer-facing demos for sales enablement and industry-leading tradeshows.
  • Benchmark top-selling products against competitors to highlight unique differentiators.
  • Attend tradeshows and conferences, write articles, and in general work on technical materials aimed at the promotion of our technologies within Robotics & Automation.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Possess a B.S. in one or more engineering disciplines and prior experience in technical sales or engineering. (B.S. in Electronics/Telecommunication/Industrial Engineering or any related engineering studies)
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering, applications engineering, high technology sales support, or field service
  • Previous experience with motion control components: servo drives, position encoders, master controllers, safety controllers.
  • Previous experience in the medical (robotic surgery), humanoid, industrial automation, or advanced robotics markets.
  • Be able to communicate technical information to non-technical customers, partners and internal colleagues.
  • Be results-driven and customer-focused, self-motivated and able to work well in a team.
  • High level of English language.

Travel Requirements  

  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel around the world (mostly in EMEA), if required. May require up to 40% travel.
