Financial Analyst, Private Equity

Play a key role in supporting the investment team in executing on its high-impact investment thesis dedicated to the Canadian agriculture and food.

Using your financial analysis and communication skills, you’ll contribute to the creation of a high-quality portfolio of businesses and funds across the entire agriculture and food industry. You’ll be involved in both fund and direct investments, with the opportunity to progress towards an investment associate position – all while working for a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the sustainability and productivity of Canada’s economy.

What you’ll do: 

  • Assist in performing preliminary analysis of investment opportunities, meet with prospective partners and industry experts and prepare summary reports
  • Participate in the preparation of investment recommendation memorandums for investment approval
  • Review statements and reports from fund managers and investee companies
  • Process transactions related to capital calls, distributions and new investments
  • Perform due diligence, monitor fund and direct investment performance, and ensure adequate internal reporting
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners – attend conferences and keep up to date on industry trends

What you’ll need: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics and at least three years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Enrolment in or completion of a professional designation is an asset (CPA, CFA, CAIIA or MBA)
  • Strong financial analysis capabilities, including financial modelling, sensitivity analysis, review of financial projections and valuation assumptions
  • Strong knowledge of the venture/growth capital investments and fund design
  • Knowledge and curiosity about Canadian agriculture industry
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset
