Since 1950, the Student Organization Finance Center, under the direction of Student Affairs Finance provides banking and financial services in support of the activities and programs of recognized student organizations at Texas A&M University.
A Glimpse of the Job
The FBS Assistant Manager coordinates high-volume front-line business office activities for the Student Organization Finance Center (SOFC). Serving as vault custodian and supervisor of cashier staff, this position oversees customer service operations, facilitates withdrawal of short-term cash funds, and the processing of SOFC’s many transaction requests.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Management and Administration
Manages activities of staff in a business function, division, or department. Establishes goals and objectives.
Monitors unit’s budget and assists with long range unit planning activities.
Manages schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Coordinates and evaluates business function, division, or departmental activities.
Reviews, and updates policies and procedures for functional area.
Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Represents the department on committees and at meetings around the campuses.
Planning and Compliance
Monitors unit’s budget and assists with long range unit planning activities.
Reviews and updates policies and procedures for functional area.
Supervision
Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others.
Represents the department on committees and at meetings around the campuses.
Cash Handling and SOFC Support
Serve as the primary custodian of the vault, overseeing the secure handling and distribution of SOFC business office funds.
Deliver high-quality customer service to over 1,100 recognized student organizations, including their leaders and advisors, ensuring timely and accurate support.
Ensure strict compliance with cash control procedures, custodianship standards, and security protocols; complete all related reconciliations and enforce adherence to SOFC working fund policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience supervising in face-paced, student and staff environments.
Demonstrated customer service experience, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, resolve inquiries professionally, and maintain positive working relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of accounting practices. Oral and written communication skills.
Customer service and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
