Reporting to the GDAL Beef Manager, the Animal Operations Technician provides operational support to both GDAL beef and swine operations. This position coordinates daily animal care and husbandry activities, supports herd and production performance goals, and ensures compliance with animal care, welfare, and biosecurity standards. The role fosters a collaborative team environment across animal operations, promoting effective communication, shared accountability, and alignment of operational goals to support integrated farm management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform daily animal care and husbandry tasks for beef and swine operations
  • Support herd health, productivity, and overall production performance goals
  • Assist with monitoring animal behavior, health, and well‑being and report concerns promptly
  • Ensure adherence to animal care, welfare, and biosecurity protocols
  • Maintain accurate operational and production records as required
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional animal operations teams to ensure smooth daily workflows
  • Promote a team‑oriented environment focused on communication, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support facility cleanliness, equipment uses, and general operational readiness
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support integrated farm operations

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification or vocational training in animal science or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a farm or livestock operational environment
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills

Work Environment

  • Hands‑on work in livestock production settings
  • May involve working outdoors and around animals in varying weather conditions
  • Physical demands consistent with animal care and farm operations

The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
