As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Facilities Technician III. The Facilities Technician III, will supports daily facility operations, and assists with ensuring the site is meeting the needs of employees and production in a 24/7 production environment. Working on jobs/projects as directed by Facilities Lead. Work includes but is not limited to; facilities equipment, building controls, fire protection systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, dehumidification, compressed air, etc. The Facilities Technician III assists with inspections and tests of machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions, assists with the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and the installation of new or repaired parts, and ensures building and grounds are properly maintained.
This position is located in Rochester, NY.
Work Schedule: This is an A shift position (some on call and off shift coverage required)
Daily facility operations, ensuring site is meeting the needs of employees and production in a 24/7 production environment, anticipates day to day work and will complete some project work.
Assists and oversees mechanical and preventive maintenance and major repairs on all facilities equipment by internal mechanics and outside vendors
Works with vendors: Orders parts and assists with coordinating site visits/inspections, equipment reviews/repairs, diagnostics, etc.
In conjunction with the Facilities Planner, ensures proper utilization of computerized maintenance management system for work orders and preventive maintenance entries.
Coordinates and ensures maintenance logs, part requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection records and other required maintenance documentation is complete per Quality requirements
Supports facility related projects, including building remodeling and construction, equipment installation, safety and environmental compliance, mechanical systems maintenance, and energy efficiency
Drives all safety, environmental, and energy management systems. Ensures site is maintained and prepared for Fire Marshall, Insurance, Quality, Environmental and Regulatory Inspections
Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
5-10 years working in manufacturing facilities, as well as, training and experience with: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection systems, refrigeration, etc.
3-5 years minimum related experience required; ability to read and write English.
Strong mechanical aptitude; excellent communication skills; strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills; strong visual acuity; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Travel: Less than 5% domestic travel
Internal Partners: Operations, security, Quality, EHS, Operations Maintenance, Site Management
External Partners: Kodak, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Arbon, multiple vendors
The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Up to 75% of the time you will be, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The hourly range for this position is $43,000.00 to $73,000.00 .
