Job Description

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support or manage the design, planning, construction, installation and maintenance of equipment, machinery and building
  • • Supports building space allocation, layout and maintenance
  • • Coordinate grounds and parking lot maintenance (lawn mowing, snow plowing, clean-up, etc.) and improvements
  • • Plan, budget and schedule facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs – Coordinated effort with procurement
  • • Inspect building structures and surroundings and coordinate repairs or renovations as needed
  • • Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs and improve efficiencies
  • • Supervise facilities staff and external contractors and assigns work as needed
  • • Ensure the facility is operational each day and safety and security issues are promptly addressed
  • • Keep records of building inspections and repairs and regulatory records
  • • Address facility-related emergency issues and coordinate recovery efforts as required; may not be during normal working hours
  • • Follow all company policies
  • • TMS crane and hoist safety instructor
  • • Confined space and forklift safety instructor
  • • Work closely with EH&S manager to ensure compliance
  • • Ensure waste is properly handled and stored
  • Responsible for Corporate and Governmental Reports on EHS, Incidents, Carbon Accounting among other regular reports.
  • Comply with of all company safety policies
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as power failure, plumbing, heating, or vandalism incidents
  • • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment
  • • Perform daily onsite inspection of the facility (outside and within the building) to ensure everything is in working order prior to the start of the workday
  • • Evaluate, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the building
  • • Minor carpentry, painting repairs to walls and cleaning duties work as needed
  • • Repair malfunctioning equipment units and broken structures
  • • Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, exit signs, eye wash stations and other equipment
  • • Light landscaping and grounds keeping work as needed
  • • Office furniture and cubical re-configurations
  • • Maintain communication and working relationship with all employees within the company
  • Responsible for the Reception / Lobby area, including use of multi-line phone system
  • • Handle internal/external customer calls with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency
  • • Acknowledge visitors immediately upon arrival, contact host of visitor via phone, page, and email
  • • Pre-screen all visitors upon receiving communication from the Host. All foreign visitors require a completed and approved Foreign Visitor or Foreign Teledyne Employee visitor form.
  • • Responsible to ensure all visitors complete the required check-in process including the Visitor Log, Identification and badging
  • • Responsible for making various announcements over the PA system in a pleasant manner
  • • Ability to act quickly and think calmly in urgent situations that may present; contacting First Responders or 911
  • • Provide feedback to Management and/or Operations regarding any prevalent customer concerns
  • • Sort/ distribute all incoming / outgoing mail, and packages. Use of Postage Machine
  • • Perform general administrative duties as requested by department managers
  • • Escort Visitors to their designated area/conference room, if necessary

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial)
  • Associate’s, bachelor’s degree or technical certification in facilities maintenance, electrical, HVAC
  • • 5+ years’ experience in facilities maintenance and building management with a working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • • 2-5+ years supervisory experience personnel and building management
  • • A valid state of Massachusetts driver's license
  • • Experience in managing, motivating, training and scheduling staffing assignments and work loads
  • • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, ERP systems and CAD applications for facility layout work
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Manages the coordination of activities, through direct reports or outside contractors
  • • Motivate and coordinate employee activities; address disciplinary issues as necessary
