Facilities Maintenance Superintendent

OCONUS-Australia-Alice Springs Full time

Purpose and Scope The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent leads a multi-skilled team in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of facility infrastructure and systems. The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent provides a professional service in leading and coordinating maintenance and configuration of all assigned facility infrastructure systems and equipment, through the leadership and supervision of an allocated crew of technical tradespeople. This includes responsibility for planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource and performance management relevant to their team’s day-to-day operation of the facility. Within this team, the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent must foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of safety initiatives and technical advances.

This position works closely with other Facilities Operations and Maintenance Superintendents to foster, promote, and maintain best-practice standardization across the entire maintenance team, ensuring consistent and effective delivery of facility maintenance and support. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus works closely with the Facilities leadership team and the O&M Facilities Area Manager (FAM) in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the mission.

Qualifications

· (AUS) Certificate III in a relevant Trade or equivalent experience and skills (US) related facilities certifications.

· Applicable trades include but are not limited to Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, and Mechanical.

· Strong understanding of infrastructure, facilities equipment, and functionality within a large operational facility.

· Ability to read and assess technical plans and documents.

· Basic computer skills including proficiency in Office 365 programs and Excel.

· Must be an Australian or US citizen. US citizens must have TS SCI with poly; Australian citizens must have NV1 clearance with the intent of progressing to Top Secret clearance.

· Driver's License.

Tickets and Licenses

· Essential: Certificate III in a Facilities Trade, Driver's License, and White Card.

· Desirable: Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift License, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid.

Experience and Skills

· Demonstrated experience in a facilities environment.

· Experience in leadership and supervision.

· Strong understanding of general equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, and corrective).

· Strong understanding and knowledge of technical terminology relating to infrastructure systems.

· Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.

· Proven ability to manage team and individual performance to achieve business objectives.

Work Environment and Demands Personnel are required to be medically fit to work and complete all physical tasks associated with the role. While much of this role is sedentary in nature, personnel must safely operate necessary tools and equipment, and navigate multiple physically restrictive plant access points without undue impacts on health and wellbeing.

Security Clearance Requirement It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will initially require a NV1 clearance with the intent to progress to Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (TS/SCI) US Department of Defense clearance.
