This is an ideal position for a highly motivated individual seeking to apply and continue developing analytical and technical skills while supporting Huron’s U.S. GAAP accounting and SEC reporting processes. The External Reporting & Technical Accounting Associate will have responsibility for stock based compensation and managing director/principal bonus compensation, and will contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings.
Core Responsibilities
1.Own the accounting for stock‑based compensation, managing director/principal bonus compensation, and equity accounting
- Verify accuracy and completeness of reports provided by stock-based compensation administrator (e.g. Fidelity)
- Collaborate with Huron HR and Operations teams to obtain and understand managing director/principal bonus compensation arrangements
- Manage accounting for Huron’s share repurchase program
- Prepare related journal entries, supporting schedules and reconciliations (including equity rollforward and EPS)
2.Support the preparation and filing of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings
- Prepare and tie-out footnotes and other disclosures within the quarterly reports on Form 10-Q and annual reports on Form 10-K
- Validate and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data provided by other departments
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and comply with SEC rules and regulations
- Address and resolve comments provided by auditors (PwC) and senior management
- Utilize and enhance reporting processes within Workiva
- Collaborate with Huron Investor Relations and Marketing to update investor materials on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SEC rules and regulations
3.Participate in ad hoc accounting and reporting projects
- Support initiatives related to new accounting standards or changes in reporting requirements
- Assist with continual process improvement projects involving stock‑based compensation, managing director/principal incentive compensation, and external reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting required
- Professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent) preferred
- 1-3 years of relevant experience required – public accounting at a Big 4/national firm or industry experience at a public company
- Experience in regulatory reporting that includes involvement with the preparation of financial statements and footnotes for external reporting is preferred
- Working knowledge of accounting for stock-based compensation, bonus compensation, and equity is preferred
- Candidate must be well organized, proactive, highly dependable, able to meet tight deadlines, detail oriented, and able to work independently
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, including the ability to interact effectively with other departments and independent auditors
