Salary Range: $93445 - $121482 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as an Explosives Safety Specialist (Ordnance) in the Range Safety Division of PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY.

Major Duties:

  • You will coordinate and ensure the adequacy of procedures involving ordnance, missiles, rockets and energetic targets employed by all Range users.
  • You will provide technical direction for transportation, handling, storage, testing, firing and disposal of such vehicles and/or devices.
  • You will be responsible to the LCO for monitoring the actions of personnel during pre-launch and launch operations, if called upon to serve as the Pad Safety Officer (PSO).
  • You will establish Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for all new and modified ground handling and firing events, which includes ordnance operations, missile assembly, launcher loading and missile firings.
  • You will monitor the performance and provide periodic technical performance evaluation of the operations and maintenance Contractor in the operation and maintenance of Launch, Missile Assembly and torpedo facilities and functions.
  • You will provide technical direction to all aspects of ordnance events.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing expertise of explosives safety laws, policies, regulations, rules, and procedures to manage ordnance (e.g., missile, rocket, munitions, explosives) operations (e.g., hazard classification, storage, inventory, handling, transportation, shipping, pre-launch, launch, post-launch, disposition) in accordance with federal regulations to minimize or eliminate potential safety hazards.
