Salary Range: $90838 - $118092 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as an Explosive Safety Specialist in the Directorate Maritime Operations (N04), Logistics Department (N4) and Ordnance Management Division (N47). of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Major Duties:

  • You will provide authoritative technical assistance and advice to properly administer the Department of the Navy (DON) and MSC explosives safety management policy
  • You will generate visit reports for consolidation with inspection reports in support of internal analysis to identify systemic issues and for readiness measurement and reporting.
  • You will review Arms, Ammunition and Explosives courses of instruction and makes recommendations to curricula ensuring compliance with established explosives safety regulations.
  • You will provide assistance to MSC vessels with Ordnance Information System -Retail (OIS-R) and Ordnance Information System - Wholesale (OIS-W) ammunition accounting systems.
  • You will attend explosive safety conferences, meetings, and training necessary to remain current with changes in explosive safety principles, practices and methods.
  • You will perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience: Experience conducting shipboard explosive safety inspections (SESI) and ordnance and technical assists visits (OAV/TAV) onboard Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels as well as explosive safety inspections (ESI) and explosives safety self-assessment (ESSA) at shore training centers. Experience providing technical guidance on how to properly administer the Department of the Navy (DON) and MSC explosives safety management policy which includes: personnel ammunition and explosives handling and certification program (QUAL/CERT), and arms, ammunition, and explosives (AA&E). Experience conducting on-site explosive safety and security oversight of ammunition movements to ensure compliance with regulations and perform spot checks of AA&E inventory.
