Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available within our high-performing team to support pricing and basis development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experience investigations, demographic risk modelling, identifying emerging trends, and translating findings into actionable business insights to inform pricing and risk management decisions. The role also involves process optimisation and the delivery of ad-hoc projects as required by the business.

The incumbent will be expected to collaborate closely with a range of internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Claims and IT.

Key Result Areas:

Data Management and Validation

  • Extract, clean and prepare data for experience investigations and modelling

  • Validate data for accuracy, consistency and completeness

  • Maintain and enhance data assets

Experience Investigations

  • Conduct regular experience investigations into claims experience and exposure movements
  • Investigate key drivers of experience variations
  • Analyse portfolio profitability and performance
  • Identify emerging trends and risks
  • Develop and enhance analytical engines to support insights

Actuarial Modelling

  • Maintain and develop actuarial models to support business understanding and decision-making

  • Ensure all models and processes are clearly documented and well governed

Reporting

  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards for senior management

  • Communicate insights, findings, and recommendations to business stakeholders

Automation and Optimisation

  • Automate data preparation and extraction processes

  • Automate existing actuarial models to improve efficiency and robustness

  • Continuously enhance and optimise analytical engines

Skills, Knowledge,Qualifications and Experience required:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field

  • Good actuarial exam progress (exceptional candidates who do not meet this requirement may still be considered)

  • Relevant life insurance-related experience (Group risk experience advantageous)

  • Intermediate proficiency in VBA, SQL, Python and R (advantageous)

  • Ability to manage large and complex datasets

  • Experience working with data management systems

  • Familiarity with any visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Sound business acumen

  • Ability to manage tasks and projects independently and deliver within agreed timelines

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Well-developed interpersonal and collaboration skills
