Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/ Sr. Principal Structural Analyst. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You Will Get To Do:
The Sentinel Analysis Team that oversees the design/analysis of the air vehicle, transport and ground support equipment, facilities and related subsystems that support the future upgrade to the Minuteman III missile as well as the unique flight test facilities is hiring. Seeking an engineer within the fracture control area of focus to perform the following:
The qualified candidate will join the Fracture Control team. The primary responsibility of the Fracture Control team is to manage the Fracture Control requirements for the Sentinel program and its suppliers. Responsibilities include:
Maintaining the Fracture Control Plan and Process including submission, customer comment resolution and approval by the customer.
Coordinating Fracture Control requirement flow down to suppliers through Supplier Management Teams.
Perform fracture analysis as required to support the Analysis homeroom including static, dynamics, stability, and damage tolerance analysis.
Participate in the Fracture Control Board responsible for assessing and dispositioning fracture critical parts and components.
Serve as Materials Engineering subject matter expert for all engineering activities related. to fracture mechanics and design for fatigue and fracture.
Derive material property requirements for damage tolerant design and expected life, maximum allowable flaw size based on the loading spectra for given applications.
Support material review board (MRB) as required for structural and damage tolerance substantiation.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You Will Bring These Qualifications:
This role can be filled at the Principal Structural Analyst (T03) or Sr. Principal Structural Analyst (T04) level.
Principal Structural Analyst: 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science or related field; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
Must hold an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet business needs.
Ability to assess engineering design against Fracture Control requirements.
Experience authoring technical reports and presenting data in support of disposition of Fracture Critical parts.
Experience with finite element modeling (FEM)
Sr. Principal Structural Analyst: 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science or related field; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD
Must hold an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet business needs.
Ability to assess engineering design against Fracture Control requirements.

These Qualifications Are Nice To Have:
Experience with any of the following software packages: Siemens NX, AFGROW, NASGRO, ANSYS, Abaqus CAE, Femap, Nastran.
Experience with scripting for software packages such as MATLAB and Siemens NX.
Metallic and Composite damage tolerance/structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
Knowledge of composite materials.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-1530 and NASA-STD-5019 for Fracture Control/Damage Tolerance.
Experience supporting MRB.
