Role Purpose: The incumbent is to support the company’s business by assessing risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines within the granted authority. 

Organization Context: The complexity of the insurance/takaful business requires the incumbent to acquire a thorough knowledge of the different insurance products (and their functionalities / technicalities) and operational processes to ensure good assessment of risks. The incumbent is also required to work closely with other departments in delivering excellent service quality to clients and customers.

Key Accountabilities and Performance Measures Impacted:

  • To review takaful proposal by assessing personal profile, medical report and legal information. Approve and decline Takaful applicants based on risk analysis in accordance with company’s underwriting and compliance guidelines. 
  • Supports underwriting operation in ensuring the department meets the agreed section’s productivity and performance. To analyze the risk involved and make recommendation accordingly within the set turnaround time and service level.
  • Ensures section complies with all regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Support and navigate adhoc task assigned by supervisors.

Qualification and Experience:

  • A degree in Biomedical Science/Biology/Health Science or any field related to human biology or public health or or Information Technology or analyst.
  • At least 2-3 years in medical underwriting with good knowledge of medical conditions.
  • Able to work independently also in a team in a target-based environment.
  • Possess detail-oriented, proactive and outspoken characteristics. Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Possess the confidence to make decisions and solve problems.
