The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance excellence in biological and biomedical sciences. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Inventory & Laboratory Support Officer to support the receipt, storage, and distribution of biological materials and laboratory supplies. This role plays a key part in ensuring inventory accuracy, biosafety compliance, and smooth day-to-day laboratory operations in a dynamic research environment.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming biological products, reagents, and consumables against delivery documentation, reporting any discrepancies or damage.
Ensure proper storage of biological materials in accordance with biosafety, temperature, and handling requirements (e.g. cold room, freezer, ambient storage).
Perform basic administrative tasks including labelling, data entry, and maintenance of accurate inventory documentation.
Prepare, pick, and issue biological products and supplies to internal users based on approved requisitions.
Update and maintain accurate records within the inventory management system to support timely and accurate order fulfilment.
Assist with periodic stock-taking and ongoing monitoring of inventory levels and expiry dates for perishable items.
Identify expiring, expired, or damaged items and support safe disposal in compliance with biosafety and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance of storage areas in line with biosafety and quality standards.
Requirements
A-Level holders or Diploma in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
1–2 years’ experience in a laboratory, research, or warehouse environment handling biological materials, reagents, and consumables.
Basic knowledge of biosafety protocols, biological material handling, and cold chain management (e.g. cold rooms, –20°C/–80°C freezers).
Familiarity with inventory management systems, stock-taking, and documentation processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and inventory tracking tools.
Strong attention to detail with an organised and methodical approach to work.
Ability to follow SOPs, safety guidelines, and work independently or in a team.
Physically fit for occasional lifting and movement of stock items.
Responsible, adaptable, and safety-conscious with a proactive attitude.
