WPTV, the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Florida, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is searching for an Executive Producer of Special Projects. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Oversee a team of producers and content creators for station-wide community-focused events.

  • Write and edit scripts for multiple platforms.

  • Work closely with Multimedia Journalists (MMJs), meteorologists, managers, and content producers as events and stories are produced for multiple platforms.

  • Manage and coordinate production related to community engagement events, including scheduling, writing, field producing, and creating promotional and follow-up content.

  • Maintain and update calendars for community events and station initiatives, including weekly live weather events.

  • Attend and actively participate in daily news planning meetings, leading discussions on upcoming content.

  • Lead the conversation on our community connection events in daily editorial meetings.

  • Shoot still and moving video; edit desktop video when needed.

  • Lead or contribute to special projects, conduct interviews, and develop enterprise stories from assigned beats.

  • Work with editors to utilize graphics and other tools to enhance storytelling.

  • Periodically represent the station at brand, listening, and watch party events to gather stories and strengthen audience connections.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience

  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel law

  • Strong skills in planning and coordinating multi-platform content with a focus on community engagement

  • Solid understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws impacting operations

  • Ability to post content to station websites and digital platforms

  • Must be a team player who can adapt quickly to developing situations

  • Excellent conversational writing skills, news judgment, organization, and interpersonal abilities

  • Flexible work hours may be required, including holidays, weekends, and evenings

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limits
