Executive Manager, Bankwest Strategy, Portfolio and Governance

  • You are a leader with a track record of independently leading enterprise-level agendas, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering disciplined strategic execution.
  • You will play a key role in building Australia’s favourite digital bank and partnering with teams across Bankwest to realise our ambitious growth and transformation agenda.
  • Together we’ll focus on customer, digital leadership, and operational excellence – enabling us to play our role in building a brighter future for all

See yourself in our team:

This is a critical leadership role responsible for running the Bankwest Strategy, Portfolio and Governance team. Reporting to the General Manager Risk, Strategy & Performance, you will operate as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Bankwest Leadership Team, ensuring our strategic priorities and target outcomes are clear, investments and resource allocation are aligned, progress is visible, and leadership forums and team are highly effective. Bankwest is on a transformative journey to become Australia’s favourite digital bank, building on our proud heritage of serving customers for more than 100 years. This role will be front and centre in achieving this mission.

The Strategy, Portfolio and Governance team oversees the ongoing development of the ambitious Bankwest strategy by advising and facilitating Bankwest Leadership Team discussions. Furthermore, as part of CBA Group, the team prepares materials for the CBA Executive Leadership Team and the Board; and collaborates on projects with leaders across the Retail Bank and the Group. Bankwest is an integral part of the CBA’s strategy to better meet customer needs in an ever-evolving retail banking landscape. Functionally, there are three parts to the team:

  • Strategy: You will be accountable for independently running this function, providing thought leadership, shaping the agenda, and proactively identifying emerging strategic questions and risks for the Managing Director, leadership team and broader Bankwest team. You will lead structured exploration of critical strategic themes, designing and facilitating leadership discussions that translate insight into clear enterprise strategic choices, in line with the broader role of Bankwest within CBA Group.
  • Portfolio: You will own the annual and quarterly strategic planning and portfolio (investment) cadence, ensuring Bankwest meets Group and Retail Banking Services requirements while maintaining internal clarity and sequencing discipline. This includes facilitating the process to define enterprise OKRs and tracking portfolio outcomes against those goals.
  • Governance: Ownership of secretariat and governance activities for the Managing Director of Bankwest and Bankwest Leadership Team forums, elevating effectiveness by ensuring time is spent on the right issues, materials support informed and timely decisions, and actions are clearly owned and tracked.

This role is suited to a senior strategy professional seeking enterprise-level exposure and the opportunity to shape the trajectory of a digital bank within a major banking group.
