What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Vice President of Wealth IE Digital, Marketing, and Communications, acting as the strategic lead in the design, development, and execution of CIBCs Private Wealth Signature Events (HNW and Family Office), expert showcases (roadshows and events), key partnership activations leveraging CIBCs suite of sponsorships, CGAM advisory events including annual due diligence conferences, CGAM bespoke institutional expert event, CGAM annual Institutional Investor Day, Next and Rising Generational national experiences, Investors Edge/Premium Edge events and strategic consultation on Wood Gundy advisor conferences and recognition (NBC, Chairmans, Executives, and Presidents), and the management and evolution of our wealth brand requirements leveraging the enterprise framework.  He/she will provide insight, consultation and support to the Private Wealth Leadership team to utilize these events and experience to drive growth of Wealth Management.  The Executive Director, Experiences and Events Strategy will be an excellent communicator and advance in stakeholder management skills, and also works closely with all CIBC Wealth Sales and Product, Business Controls, IT, Security and Risk Management and other cross-functional departments to ensure proper processes, analytics and reporting, infrastructure, privacy and technological requirements are met.

As the Executive Director, Wealth Brand, Experience and Events Marketing, you will require advanced knowledge of marketing principles (such as content strategies), brand design principles within different delivery channels, events, sponsorships and strategic experience development, as well as advanced communications and relationship-building skills. Under the direction of the Vice President of Wealth Digital, Marketing, and Communications, he/she will be responsible for developing and executing events and initiatives in alignment with Sales/Marketing focus. He/she will lead the Experience and Events team in the project management and strategic development, for the full experience management including pre and post elements of the experience and leveraging corporate teams for support such as facilities.  Organization skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and delegate duties are imperative.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $136,680 to $186,680.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Experience Strategy & Project Management - Responsible for managing the advisor and client events and experience roadmap for HNW and UHNW clients, Institutional clients, Advisor events (WG, IS, CPIC, Private Banking, and Third Party), and Premium Edge. Developing 2-3 signature conferences for GAM – Advisory and Institutional Investor Day.  Developing 2 annual 4-5 city signature roadshows – these multi-city roadshows support approximately 3000 HNW and 150 UHNW clients annually. Monthly and Quarterly virtual events for each different audience groups, PW Conference and Recognition event strategies.  National lifestyle event series for strategic segments – Women, NextGen, FO, Business Owners and the Annual Sponsorship strategy.  Working in collaboration with the VP and key Executive Directors on shaping and executing best in class client experiences and support for our key client and advisor segments.  Enhanced localized events and seminar strategies and toolkits. Manage and develop the post event experiences including thank you emails, thought leadership and content, etc. to continue to drive deep engagement.
  • Wealth Brand Management - Brand Strategy: Leveraging the enterprise brand framework to develop core brand elements, positioning, and messaging.  Market Research & Insights: Analyze consumer behavior, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities.  Marketing & Campaigns: Guide marketing teams on campaign execution, ensuring all communications (ads, social, PR) are on-brand and effective.  Brand Consistency: Ensure all internal and external brand expressions (products, packaging, employee actions) align with core values.
  • Campaign development and execution - Integrate business goals and project objectives to lead and develop compelling marketing campaigns across owned and paid media, working with internal and external agencies and media partners.  Manages and oversees agencies and outside firms, where required.  Able to enhance and rationalize strategic approach, project operations and costs.
  • Tracking and metrics - Develop events, experiences, and sponsorship evaluation criteria and results.  Analyze events/program results and develop recommendations for future activations.  Makes recommendations to enhance client experience based on insights and leanings.  Recommends ways to track marketing campaigns (call to web) to help determine success and ROI of Events and Experiences, where possible.
  • Builds and manages relationships with internal clients and partners - Has a good understanding of the different CIBC groups and various CIBC internal partners to establish and maintain key relationships with.  Establishes and maintains relationships with key external vendors. Creating deeper connections to the enterprise marketing, Capital Markets, GAM, Investors Edge and central teams to create the right support for the Wealth Management businesses.
  • Business and industry trends and management - Stays current with the latest events, mobile web and social media best practices in order to apply, where possible.  Achieves team’s objectives, within the project/task scope, budget and schedule, while always delivering high quality work.  Works with all team members to breakdown deliverables into tasks, each with an estimated level of effort and dependency details.  Creates detailed project plans, timelines, budgets and SOWs that are align to the overall strategy and growth mandate.  Ensures creative concepts meet the client’s objectives and CIBC’s guidelines and requirements, as well as fit within budget and timing specifications for the project.  Proactively identifies project risks, creating risk management and mitigation plans with the team.
  • People Management – Manage and coach a team of 4-10 direct reports dedicated to Wealth Brand, Experiences and Events.  Provide motivation, coaching, training and developmental opportunities to ensure employees are capable of performing at or above the necessary standards.  Assist staff with complex problems and in the resolution of difficult or complex issues.  Provide regular feedback to ensure performance appraisals and the identification of performing at or above the necessary standards.  Build and manage relationships with key partners internally and externally to create revenue and profit opportunities and enhance customer and employee satisfaction.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate a minimum 10+ years experience in leading and managing events and have strong knowledge of financial services industry, with specific focus on wealth management.  You have excellent marketing and events skills and understanding and have strong knowledge of large/complex website management.
  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making and you have excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills
  • You have knowledge in digital marketing journey experience and can provide creative digital solutions to meet business needs.  You have extensive knowledge and ability to apply the principles of marketing, Advertising agency experience an asset.
