Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$89,343.00

Job Description:

The Executive Director of College Events Services (CES) provides visionary and strategic leadership for a centralized, full-service operation integrating Event Management, Food Services, and Event Logistics. This position is responsible for designing and advancing a comprehensive event services model that enhances the College’s academic mission, strengthens the student experience, supports institutional priorities, and fosters meaningful community engagement.

As the senior leader overseeing event operations, the Executive Director establishes enterprise-wide standards for service delivery, calendar governance, operational coordination, financial stewardship, and risk management. The role ensures that all events—internal and external—are professionally executed, fiscally responsible, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with institutional brand and safety standards.

The Executive Director provides executive oversight of the College’s master events calendar and Event Management Software platform, ensuring transparent scheduling practices, optimized space utilization, data-informed decision-making, and seamless cross-functional coordination. Through strong institutional partnerships and disciplined operational leadership, this role builds a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement that positions the College as a premier host for academic, student, and community events.

Strategic & Operational Leadership :

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the College Events Services Department aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Lead and integrate Event Management, Food Services, and Logistics under a unified service model.
  • Establish policies, service standards, and operating procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality event delivery.
  • Provide executive oversight of the College’s master events calendar to ensure coordination, prioritization, space optimization, and visibility across campus.
  • Govern and optimize the College’s Event Management Software (EMS), including system configuration, workflow design, reporting, user access, training, and continuous system improvement.
  • Oversee centralized event intake, approval workflows, and tiered review processes supported by technology solutions.

Team Leadership, Performance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional leadership team with clear accountability and performance expectations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, including client satisfaction, budget adherence, safety outcomes, calendar utilization, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote collaboration, professional development, and a culture of service excellence.
  • Drive data-informed process improvements, reporting enhancements, and technology optimization initiatives.

Institutional Partnerships:

  • Serve as the primary liaison to academic units, student organizations, administrative departments, College Relations, Marketing & Communications, and Campus Safety & Security.
  • Collaborate effectively with all College Departments to fulfill event responsibilities for seamless delivery. Ensure events are executed successfully and that the College is represented positively within the community.

Financial & Risk Management:

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including revenue generation and cost recovery models.
  • Cost Center Manager for Food Services, Event Services, and Logistic Support.
  • Oversee pricing strategies for catering and external events.
  • Optimize staffing, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, food service standards, ADA accessibility requirements, alcohol policies, and contract management practices.
  • Partner with Campus Safety & Security on risk assessments, security planning, and emergency preparedness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Event Management, Public Administration, or related field; plus five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in event operations, hospitality, food service, or a related environment. Of the required five (5) years of work experience, three (3) years must be supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and operational management skills with the ability to oversee complex event and service operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills in a customer service-focused environment requiring high levels of professionalism and service delivery.
  • Proficiency with event management software, scheduling platforms, and business technology systems, along with the ability to leverage data for operational improvements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Event Management, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector settings.
