Job Summary: This position is part of the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management - National Energy Technology Laboratory, Department of Energy. As a Executive Assistant, you will provide advice and recommendations to the Laboratory Operations Center (LOC) on all matters relative to the coordination, integration, and synchronization of staff actions, events, and activities personally affecting and involving the LOC.

Veterans shape the future of energy As an Executive Assistant, you will: Advise the Laboratory Operations Center (LOC) on how to plan and combine different activities, events, and staff tasks. Create and carry out plans to bring together both daily tasks and long-term projects within the LOC. To include looking at many different issues and offering important advice. Run and keep up to date the LOC's work schedule, which includes managing appointments, predicting future needs, and sorting out any scheduling problems. Find, organize, and manage all arrangements for travel for senior staff, visits from important guests, major events, and social gatherings, often working with outside groups. Provide administrative help to the LOC, such as managing emails and letters, handling private information, and keeping official records Assign staff to look up information, create, and write various documents like presentations, speeches, and official statements for the LOC's use.

Qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 3 of the following: - Arranging and reconciling travel utilizing an electronic travel system - Using automated systems to generate reports, documents and presentations - Handling large volumes of written and verbal correspondence including confidential and sensitive material OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Communications, Office Administration/Management, Organizational Leadership or Organizational Development, Project Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages.
