POSITION SUMMARY
The Evernorth Strategic Initiatives team functions as an internal consulting organization and provides broad support on senior-leader sponsored and high-impact/cross-functional programs across Evernorth. This role leads strategic planning projects, provide content/idea creation, work cross-functionally, develop strategic planning communications (verbal and written), and be responsible for directing, managing and synthesizing strategic topics. Work may report through a senior-level functional leader and will require extensive collaboration with one or more teams within the Evernorth or the broader Cigna organization. The role executes and enables the strategy set by senior management and integrates policy and/or programs across several departments, and identifies significant improvement opportunities, innovation opportunities, and facilitates cross-business unit initiatives including business development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads large cross-functional strategic initiatives: align charters/objectives, develop program plans, metrics and timelines, manage and/or monitor progress to execution
Provides business direction for a team of program or project resources and/or external consultants, coaches individuals on performance
Provides executive leadership updates
Analyzes complex situations, distillation of the issues into strategic options and driving to appropriate conclusions
Manages tight deadlines, scope and converging opinions to solutions in timely manner
Ensures project delivers business operational needs and requirements
Develops detailed communications plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans
Develops executive communications including presentation slides and analysis
Facilitates and takes on active leadership role in meetings
Handles high-pressure environment with multiple competing priorities
Proactively maintains strong rapport with key leaders across the company, staying apprised of their strategic goals and program/support needs
Actively prepares for future needs/other projects
Accommodates for current and changing needs
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years' relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred, Master’s degree preferred
Previous experience in management consulting preferred
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and lead others effectively
Interest and ability in solving problems, bringing teams together to resolve challenges, driving process improvements, leading expense reduction or margin driving initiatives
Extensive project management skills using various programs to prepare and execute business plans
Ability to manage complex analysis from issue identification to proposal of potential solutions
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage specific deliverables and workload within an environment of tight deadlines for self and for their team
Excellent verbal and written communication and cross-functional interaction skills, including presentation
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
