THE ROLE

As an Event Security Guard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and controlled environment in non-public areas of the venue during concerts. This position focuses on credential verification, access control, and monitoring restricted areas including backstage corridors, artist areas, loading docks, production areas, and other operational spaces. This role requires strong situational awareness, professionalism when interacting with employees and touring personnel, and the ability to consistently enforce venue policies while supporting safe and efficient backstage operations. This is a seasonal, part-time, event-based position beginning in June 2026 and concluding in September 2026.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a professional, service-oriented presence while performing security duties; interact respectfully with employees, performers, touring personnel, vendors, and contractors while supporting safe and efficient backstage operations.

  • Monitor and control access to backstage and other restricted areas by verifying credentials, wristbands, laminates, or other approved passes and preventing unauthorized entry into artist areas, production offices, stage access points, loading docks, and other controlled spaces.

  • Use of magnetometers

  • Follow all venue policies and security procedures, including radio communication protocols and assigned post responsibilities.

  • Communicate with venue management, supervisors, and other security staff via radio regarding incidents, suspicious activity, or operational updates.

  • Maintain professional conduct and discretion in backstage areas and avoid interfering with production activities unless necessary for safety or security.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies in accordance with venue procedures.

  • Document and report incidents, policy violations, or unusual activity to venue management.

  • Support emergency response procedures, including evacuation or medical response, when necessary.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to venue uniform and dress code standards, including wearing the approved security uniform and required credentials at all times while on duty.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Valid New York State Security Guard License required (we offer classes to obtain your license).

  • 1-3 years of experience in security, event operations, hospitality, or customer service preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, public-facing or event-driven environment is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong customer service and hospitality skills with the ability to maintain a friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while interacting with employees, touring personnel, vendors, and contractors.

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in fast-paced or stressful situations.

  • Ability to make sound and independent decisions within established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in backstage and restricted areas.

  • Basic understanding of radio communication and the ability to follow radio communication protocols.

  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.

  • Reliable attendance and the ability to report to assigned posts on time.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.

  • Work hours are casual, seasonal, and event-based and are not guaranteed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, often for the duration of a shift.

  • Ability to climb stairs and move throughout large venue spaces, including backstage and restricted areas.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds when necessary.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and staff in a loud, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to hear radio communications and respond appropriately.

  • Ability to move quickly and safely between areas of the venue when needed.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including rain, heat, or cold.

  • Ability to work in environments with loud noise, stage lighting, pyrotechnics, dust, and other typical concert production conditions.
