About the role

MSS Security’s Scholarship Program offers an exceptional pathway for individuals seeking a fresh start – whether you’re transitioning from the Defence Force, re‑entering the workforce, leaving school or changing careers. We also embrace and value diversity at MSS Security and encourage females and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to work with our team at our prestigious Defence client sites.

We fully fund your Certificate II in Security Operations and cover the first year of your Security Licence. In return, you’ll commit to 12 months of service with us.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in safeguarding Defence personnel, assets, and infrastructure through proactive patrols, effective access control, and a consistent on‑site security presence.

We’re seeking individuals who remain calm under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and recognise the importance of consistency in secure environments. This is not a typical security role—working within a Defence setting requires a higher level of professionalism, discretion, and operational discipline, where your actions directly support national operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Access Control – Monitoring entry and exit points to ensure only authorised personnel are permitted on site.
  • Foot Patrols – Conducting regular patrols to maintain situational awareness and deter potential threats.
  • Stakeholder Liaison – Building rapport with Defence personnel, contractors, and visitors while delivering a strong security presence.
  • Incident Response – Reacting promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious behaviour.
  • Compliance Monitoring – Ensuring site protocols and Defence security procedures are always followed.
  • Reporting & Documentation – Accurately recording incidents, shift activities and observations in accordance with site requirements.

  • Australian Citizenship - required for Defence security clearance eligibility
  • 24/7 Availability in a Full Time capacity

  • Baseline Defence Clearance or must be willing to obtain a Baseline Clearance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with Defence personnel and site stakeholders
