In data analysis at PwC, you will focus on utilising advanced analytical techniques to extract insights from large datasets and drive data-driven decision-making. You will leverage skills in data manipulation, visualisation, and statistical modelling to support clients in solving complex business problems.

We are seeking a highly skilled Insights Reporting Specialist to support the creation of high-quality reporting outputs for large-scale research and analytics projects. The role requires advanced Excel capability, strong data literacy, and the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, impactful reporting dashboards and narrative insights. 

This position suits someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating efficient and automated reporting processes using Excel, AI tools, and other data manipulation methods. 

The Insights Reporting Specialist will play a critical role in delivering accurate, engaging reporting outputs that help clients and internal teams understand complex data quickly and effectively. This role is central to driving efficiency and insights through advanced Excel work, automation, and strong storytelling. 

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting Production & Data Handling 

  • Build and maintain complex Excel-based reporting tools and dashboards using advanced formulas, structured references, and dynamic layouts. 

  • Perform robust data manipulation using Excel and other tools to prepare, clean, join, and restructure datasets. 

  • Conduct two-dimensional lookups, advanced sorts, filters, data merges, and transformative operations to consolidate inputs from multiple sources. 

  • Design and produce high-quality Excel charts, visualisations, and dashboards to meet client and internal reporting needs. 

Data Literacy & Analysis 

  • Demonstrate strong data literacy, understanding data fundamentals, structures, joins, and quality considerations. 

  • Carry out general data analysis such as descriptive analysis, trends, comparisons, and exceptions. 

  • Interpret data patterns and work with analysts to integrate context and explain results clearly. 

QA & Process Excellence 

  • Conduct thorough quality assurance (QA) checks across all reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency. 

  • Maintain strong version control and documentation of reporting processes. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through AI, automation, and advanced Excel techniques, contributing to continuous process improvement. 

Communication & Storytelling 

  • Translate complex data findings into clear, concise narratives appropriate for business stakeholders. 

  • Present data in a structured, story-led format that highlights key insights and implications. 

  • Collaborate with analysts, project managers, and delivery teams to understand reporting requirements and ensure outputs meet expectations. 

 

Required Skills & Experience 

Technical Skills 

  • Advanced Excel expertise, including: 

  • Nested formulas, LET/LAMBDA functions, dynamic arrays, two-way lookups 

  • INDEX/MATCH/XLOOKUP 

  • Sorting, filtering, conditional logic, text manipulation 

  • Pivot tables and pivot charts 

  • Advanced Excel charting and dashboard techniques 

 

  • Design and produce high-quality Excel charts, visualisations, and dashboards to meet client and internal reporting needs, this includes complex manipulation of charts in order to support chart customisation features. 

  • Strong data manipulation skills and comfort working with structured datasets from multiple sources. 

  • Demonstrated data literacy, including understanding of data types, structures, metadata, and common data issues. 

  • Experience producing well-structured, scalable reporting outputs for recurring delivery cycles. 

  • Proven experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, AI Excel tools) to build efficiencies, generate formulas, enhance QA, or automate tasks.

Desirable Experience  

  • Experience with basic scripting or automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, or VBA). 

  • Experience in research, analytics, or reporting-focused delivery environments. 

  • Understanding of data visualisation best practices and principles.
