The City of Aurora’s Esports program isn't just leveling up; we’re hitting unreal, and we need a new teammate for the control room. If you have a passion for technology and know how to lead a squad (both digitally and in real life), this role is your next major campaign.
Think of this job as being the ultimate Guild Leader for our programs. You are the crucial point guard who keeps the ball moving. You won't just be monitoring screens; you'll be the go-to person who makes sure the server is always running smoothly, ready to troubleshoot minor glitches before they cause a full system crash.
We need someone who can mentor the next generation of competitors while ensuring that every customer and youth participant feels like a VIP, not just an NPC. This means you are constantly connecting with our community, building healthy relationships, and promoting our expanding program.
We are looking for an Esports Program Assistant who is ready to jump into the thick of it.
Hiring Salary is $18.00/hour.
This position is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the day-to-day activities of the esports programming including programs, classes, camps, drop-in and events; facilitates esports camps events.
Expands and maintains internal and external professional partnerships needed to facilitate esports programs, classes, camps, and events.
Develops and maintains positive and healthy relationships with participants and the community by actively engaging with them and responding to their needs and interests.
Assuring facility or site set up including support personnel are prepared for day(s) event(s).
Assists with the development, implementation, and tracking of a marketing strategy for esports programming.
Consolidates and collects all records of payments/fees for programs and outstanding balances.
Handles cash and utilizes point-of-sale software to complete transactions.
Performs administrative tasks, completion of enrollment forms, tracking attendance, activity registration, account maintenance, account creation, and account collections.
Performs customer service duties such as greeting guests and answering questions in person and over the phone; explains Parks and Recreations programs and services.
Coordinates and schedules facility usage and maintenance.
Can trouble-shoot minor problems, propose solutions, and establish work-orders.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (or on track to complete)
Age:
At least 16 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
eSports experience is preferred but not required.
Customer Service experience preferred.
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of sports and how games are played, officiated, and managed. Ability to regulate crowd, coach, participant, officials/referee behavior. Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public and to handle stressful situations in a professional and respectful manner.
Skills:
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Abilities:
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens, and private organizations.
The ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
The ability to handle sensitive and stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to recognize, analyze and implement needed organizational systems.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
A Colorado Driver's License with a good driving record.
You will have the opportunity to occasionally use your own personal equipment (i.e. Vehicle, cellphone, laptop, tools, etc.) during the course of your employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary to moderate physical work depending upon assignment. May require the ability to lift up to a maximum of 75 pounds. May require regular standing and walking. May require bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer keyboard. May require foot/eye coordination for the operation of a motor vehicle. Vision to read reports and other written material. Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens. Equipment Used:
Uses standard office equipment including a computer system. Requires operation of own motor vehicle. Personal computer, including word processing software; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; cell phone; a mobile or portable radio; automobile; various sports equipment used in recreation programs.
The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
