ESG Client Query Manager

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within M&G’s ESG Queries team for an experienced professional to lead the strategic development and operational delivery of the firm’s ESG query response function.

This role is central to ensuring the timely, accurate, and consistent communication of M&G’s sustainability credentials to clients and stakeholders. The ESG Queries Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s ESG narrative, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering insights that inform broader sustainability and client engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Team Oversight:

  • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders across the firm including with Investment Teams, Sales, Product, Sustainability, Compliance, and other key functions, to ensure ESG messaging delivered to clients appropriately 
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on ESG query volumes and trends, delivering insights that inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a firm-wide ESG Standard Questionnaire to support consistent and scalable responses to frequently asked ESG queries. 
  • Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive queries, resolving issues in collaboration with internal experts and stakeholders. 
  • Champion continuous improvement across ESG query processes, driving operational efficiency and service excellence including through the use of AI. 

Day to Day activities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of all incoming ESG-related queries, ensuring each request is appropriately assessed, managed, and tracked, owning the production of the document where required. Maintain clear ownership and accountability within the team, ensuring a comprehensive log of all ongoing and completed queries is kept up to date (within Salesforce). 
  • Collaborate closely with Asset Class RFP teams to support and answer ESG-related content across all asset classes, ensuring responses reflect M&G’s sustainability commitments and investment capabilities. 
  •  Participate in wider team projects including with the firms content management database (RocketDocs) as well as ad-hoc projects to build the team's profile around the business 
  •  Become the expert in various ESG data tools within the business, ensuring the wider team are versed on how to use these - Cross training other teams where required 
  •  Manage ESG Queries team, supporting the team with training, and development whilst also managing capacity.  

Process Optimisation:

  • Translate client requirements into actions / development points, leading engagement with appropriate teams internally to ensure solutions are built to support clients.  
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of ESG Queries team processes to support governance and knowledge continuity. 

Key Experience, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Experience of working in asset management in a similar role and eagerness to learn about Investments. 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail. 
  • Good creative writing skills and good grammar/authoring; Ability to write in a clear, concise manner. 
  • Confident liaising with stakeholders of varying seniority and the ability to build good working relationships by understanding needs and requirements. 
  • Knowledge of Q&A databases is preferred (RocketDocs). 
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Ability to write for multiple audiences and stakeholders. 
  • Ability to manage and control multiple priorities and competing deadlines.  
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative to improve processes and content.  
  • Ideally IMC qualified or working towards this or other relevant qualifications.
