General Summary
Essential Job Accountabilities
Obtain and manage all required environmental permits for operations to ensure full regulatory compliance and uninterrupted business activities
Ensure environmental regulatory compliance for assigned materials and construction operations by maintaining accountability for
environmental permits, permit conditions, and required regulatory reporting, and by coordinating timely and accurate submittals to applicable local, state, and federal agencies
Provide environmental leadership through targeted field engagement, conducting site visits, inspections, and compliance verification activities as necessary based on operational risk, regulatory requirements, or inspection findings
Serve as the primary liaison with local agencies and regulators to maintain compliance with land use, air, stormwater, waste permits for materials sites and construction projects and foster positive relationships
Coordinate with business unit leaders to develop and deliver environmental training programs that ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations
Develop and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) to align legal requirements, set objectives, assign responsibilities, and manage documentation for compliance
Direct the creation and upkeep of an environmental compliance database to track reporting, monitor permit conditions, and ensure all facilities meet legal standards
Develop, manage and maintain plans as required by environmental permits, regulations and other legal requirements
Identify and monitor significant environmental issues and advise management on actions that protect compliance and strengthen the company’s reputation as an environmental leader
Support materials and construction operations through environmental review and advisory services, including participation in preconstruction planning, evaluation of environmental and permitting requirements for projects, and coordination of environmental permitting for new or modified operations
Collaborate with SHEQ, operations, and leadership to integrate environmental requirements into site practices, supporting assessments, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as applicable
Mentor and support environmental staff to promote professional development and maintain an engaged, high-performing workforce
Prepare business units for internal EMS audits and ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements
May perform additional duties as needed from time to time to support environmental compliance and company objectives
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Wildlife Biology, Hydrology, or a related field is preferred
Work Experience
7+ years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated decision-making ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams and stakeholders
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to assigned locations and operations
Proven experience in scheduling, subcontractor coordination, budgeting, and cost control to ensure efficient project execution
Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with regulatory agencies and represent the company professionally in public forums
Skilled in public speaking, including managing contentious meetings, and capable of clearly communicating complex topics to field personnel and management
Strong technical writing skills for preparing inspection reports, memoranda, and other documentation requiring detailed descriptions and summaries
Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of construction crafts and management to coordinate and complete environmental requirements
Competence in training and mentoring direct reports on tasks such as permitting, inspections, public speaking, internal training, and professional interaction with agencies and the public

Base Salary Range:
$105,831.00 - $158,746.00Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
