Position Summary:

The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) is a private American auto insurance company with headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. GEICO is going through a massive digital transformation to re-platform the Insurance industry, removing friction across Customers, Partners, Marketplace, Segments, Channels, and Experiences as we grow our reach and market share.

About the Role:

Claims Service Operations requires a strong analytics and reporting function to support day‑to‑day operational management, executive visibility, and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will support Claims Service Operations leadership by translating raw operational, survey, telephony, and compliance data into actionable reporting used across the organization.

This work blends data engineering, analytics, and reporting design, with a focus on supporting recurring operational cadences and ad‑hoc executive requests.

Using tools such as SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and Python, applicants will develop and maintain reporting that supports both frontline operational decisions and high‑level executive discussions. This includes diagnosing data issues, partnering with technical teams to resolve defects, and ensuring leaders have confidence in the data and metrics being delivered.

Success in this role requires strong technical skills, the ability to work with imperfect or evolving data, and the communication skills to translate complex analytics into clear, concise insights for operational and executive audiences. The work is highly collaborative and fast‑paced, with a consistent focus on enabling Claims Service Operations leaders to manage performance, mitigate risk, and move the organization forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write advanced, efficient SQL to transform Claims data and implement reusable data patterns.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards, metrics layers, and semantic models to support reporting and business insights.
  • Apply deep data structure knowledge and strong analytical thinking to translate complex Claims data and customer‑driven requirements into clear, actionable analytics and production‑ready solutions
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Relevant work experience of 2 - 5+ years (preferred)

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and working with large datasets.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAS (Base SAS, SAS EG, or SAS Studio) for data manipulation, reporting, and running automated processes preferred.
  • Ability to build, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards, including:
    • Data modeling (DAX, Power Query)
    • Creating interactive visualizations
    • Publishing and managing workspace content
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle)

Analytical & Business Skills:

  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort working with ambiguous or incomplete data.
  • Experience presenting insights to non‑technical stakeholder


 

Annual Salary

$73,800.00 - $141,450.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
