About the Role
Are you ready to step into a challenging, high-visibility role and make a tangible impact on Alcoa's operational compliance? You could be our next Environmental Compliance Specialist, joining our motivated team based directly at the WA Mining HUB in Pinjarra. This 6-month limited term contract, or internal secondment offers you a unique opportunity to expand your expertise, influence key operational decisions, and enhance your leadership skills within our WA Mining team. You will report directly to the Environmental Superintendent - Compliance and Systems, gaining direct mentorship and strategic exposure.

As the Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will be performing an integral role in sustaining our mining operations by:
Manage Environmental licences to sustain mining operations, including maintaining currency of licences, oversee operational performance tracking against licence requirements, and support site teams in licence compliance implementation.
Provide professional support in relation to compliance obligations associated with legislation, government standards and commitments, including tracking of key compliance requirements, facilitating communication of compliance obligations throughout WA Mining.
Provide technical advice in environmental incident investigations in relation evaluation of compliance risk and external reporting requirements.
Maintain EMS to ISO14001 requirements, including aspects and impacts registers, compliance and performance tracking, training, procedures, data management, and auditing, including coordinating internal, external, and corporate audits.
Monitors and reports the compliance of the operations in relation to Alcoa standards, regulatory requirements, and licence conditions, and provides consultation in the development of compliance systems.
Provide supervision for three environmental Advisors, including performance management, support and direction to ensure priority tasks are executed to schedule.

What you can bring to the role
A Degree in a relevant Scientific field or equivalent field experience
Ideally you will have a background in Environmental compliance, systems management (including ISO 14001), and environmental data management.
Exposure to relevant Australian environmental legislation, government standards, and internal policies in Western Australia.
Strong communication and influencing skills, essential for facilitating compliance obligations and driving site implementation to achieve targets.
Proven experience in an environmental supervisor position or an equivalent senior capacity.
Experience in coaching, training, and mentoring personnel to build site capability and ownership of environmental systems.

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
