About the business and team

This role is part of the Business Services Group, Banking department. Business Services Group is responsible for the provision of banking and payments services to Australian Government agencies, the provision of payment settlement services to Australian financial system participants through the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS), the conduct of Exchange Settlement Accounts and the production and issuance of Australian banknotes. Banking Department provides a range of banking services to Australian Government departments. This role will be within Change Delivery team in Banking department who is responsible for uplifting & maintaining banking payment infrastructure.

About the role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Environment Lead to oversee and manage the Banking department’s application environment usage. In this role, you will work collaboratively across delivery teams to ensure they are well-informed of environment schedules and usage, supporting their day-to-day operations effectively. You will be responsible for coordinating deployment communications across multiple stakeholders and teams, ensuring minimal disruption and seamless integration into ongoing work. As the first point of contact for all environment activities and deployments, you will play a key role in ensuring environment stability for development and testing usage. This position will be held accountable for all scheduling of environment activities, and will drive best practices in environment management, communication, and cross-team collaboration.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience defining and maintaining a comprehensive environment strategy across multiple environments to ensure alignment with delivery timelines and release governance standards.

  • Demonstrated experience with provisioning, setup, and lifecycle management of multiple shared environments for complex multi‑team delivery programs.

  • Proven experience coordinating scheduled maintenance, patching activities, and planned outages, including development and communication of outage calendars and change windows.

  • Demonstrated experience proactively identifying environment‑related issues such as configuration drift, resource contention, or integration failures and driving timely resolution.

  • Experience developing and maintaining environment usage metrics, including utilisation dashboards, environment availability reporting, and incident tracking to improve transparency and decision‑making.

  • Strong background managing communication with delivery teams, technical leads, testers, and business stakeholders to ensure environment readiness, outages, and changes are clearly understood.

  • Ability to plan, execute, monitor, and optimise delivery schedules across multiple teams operating within shared development environments.

  • Understands the software code deployment process and risks environments used for development.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery practices.
