Objective of the position
The EHS Specialist supports a strong environmental, health, and safety culture across Stoneridge. The role collaborates with Operations, Focus Factory Leaders, and the Regional EHS Manager, implementing Global EHS initiatives, while also managing local EHS issues, improvement projects, and regulatory compliance. The position reports to the Global EHS Manager.
Characterization of activities
- Lead local EHS initiatives to achieve zero workplace injuries and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and report EHS performance by collaborating with HR and Finance and maintaining transparency through the Incident Reporting Database.
- Coordinate incident resolution, including safety incidents, near misses, and observations.
- Drive key EHS programs such as STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) and the Design‑In‑EHS Process for new processes and equipment.
- Support continuous improvement of the EHS management system by updating procedures, work instructions, and training.
- Oversee essential site activities including First Response coordination, fire drills, wastewater sampling, and hazardous waste handling and disposal.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in an EHS‑related field (e.g., chemical or industrial engineering) with 3–5 years of relevant experience and English proficiency.
- Strong knowledge of local EHS regulations and experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
- Experience managing EHS risks in warehouse environments and working with hazardous chemicals, including proper handling and disposal.
- Proven capability in emergency preparedness and response.
- Skilled in behavior‑based safety observations and delivering EHS training.
- Practical experience supporting external audits and driving continuous improvement in EHS management systems.
